Alyson is an empathetic consultant and attorney with relentless persistence. She attended the University of California, Berkeley as an undergraduate before earning her law degree and graduating cum laude at the University of Michigan Law School. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She now represents clients in litigation, trial, and loss recovery, taking care to explain their options.
Alyson has enjoyed success in many areas of commercial litigation, with a primary focus on business disputes, insurance recovery, and employment. She has particular experience with corporate derivative litigation, in which she helps protect companies from improper shareholder lawsuits, as well as represents LLC members seeking to protect their company from the misconduct of other corporate leaders. Alyson also represents 501(c)(3) nonprofits on startup and governance matters.
Alyson’s career highlights include obtaining a critical preliminary injunction and seven-figure settlement for a clean-energy company for losses resulting from intellectual property misappropriation and breach of fiduciary duty; securing an asset seizure for a Fortune 100 bank seeking to recover eight-figure losses from a fraudulent mortgage lender; and securing a favorable settlement for an online identity-protection company for seven-figure losses resulting from a large retailer’s false advertising and trade secret misappropriation. She recently obtained full insurance coverage—in prelitigation loss recovery—for a bet-the-company embezzlement loss that raised novel questions in insurance law. Alyson is also dedicated to her pro bono practice. Most recently, she obtained emergency protection for a victim of domestic violence facing continued threatened assault. She has also represented children who were sexually assaulted while in state care, and has written several amicus curiae briefs for the U.S. Supreme Court on constitutional law issues such as voting rights.
Before becoming a lawyer, Alyson worked at a bingo hall, a comic book store, in shipping and receiving, and as a professional child minder and maid. She was the first in her family to graduate from college. Alyson and her husband live in Boise, where they enjoy hiking, camping, and throwing the ball over and over again for their very busy dog, Buckeye.
